Dr. Chamberlain combines over 20 years of clinical experience in psychotherapy, life coaching and psychological testing to provide his clients with valuable tools to effect behavioral change and personal growth; as well as enhancing self knowledge and social skills. He utilizes both cognitive-behavioral and insight oriented approaches to provide a tailored therapeutic experience that is simultaneously powerful as well as flexible and suited to varying client needs and backgrounds. He treats a vast spectrum of diagnoses in clients ranging in age from childhood through adulthood, and also provides life coaching for individuals who are working toward goals of self improvement outside of the clinical arena.
In addition to working with individuals, Dr. Chamberlain also has experience in organizing and leading group as well as family treatment modalities. He provides both psychodiagnostic and psychoeducational testing to aid in collateral treatment planning and scholastic requirements. Most importantly, his client-centered philosophy ensures that the therapeutic process is always cognizant of, and designed to respond to, the ever changing and emerging needs of each unique client. In this way, a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship is developed and nurtured; and he believes it is only in this type of environment that the most profound, helpful and satisfying work can occur.
Dr. Chamberlain received his B.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor; and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit, Michigan. He received his internship training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and West Bloomfield, Michigan. He is also affiliated with the American Psychological Association (APA), the Michigan Psychological Association (MPA), and the Michigan Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology (MSPP).
