Thomas W. Blume earned his Ph.D. in Marital and Family Therapy at Texas Tech University, specializing in couples’ handling of conflict. His clinical specialties include divorce, remarriage, and stepfamilies; families in the adolescent years; couples and families in recovery from chemical dependency; new couple relationships; and online counseling for multiple-household relationships.
He is author of Becoming a Family Counselor: A Bridge to Family Therapy, Theory and Practice (John Wylie & Sons, 2006) and the creator of Identity Renegotiation Counseling (www.identityrenegotiation.com).
Dr. Blume is licensed in Michigan as a Professional Counselor (LPC) and as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). He is a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, and a National Certified Counselor. He is an Associate Professor at Oakland University, where he teaches counseling theory and family counseling.
